Van Gogh Records was founded in 2007 with the intention to sign and release talented artists both in Finland and internationally. Our personnel consist of a group of professionals in marketing, song-writing, arranging and producing. Van Gogh Records is owned by Niklas Nylund, Douglas Pashley and Thomas Wahlström
Van Gogh Records is aiming to follow the footsteps of the legendary record labels such as Tamla Motown, Island, Virgin and Chrysalis, who were all renowned for their creative atmosphere and great music. Thomas Wahlström is the CEO of Van Gogh Records. He has had a long career as an economist at the Wabuco accounting agency.
Production manager Niklas Nylund is a noted musician, producer, song-writer and arranger. He is best known as the drummer of the legendary Finnish band Leevi and The Leavings. He has also produced numerous hit records for Finnish artists, including Leevi and The Leavings, Essi Wuorela, Idols finalists Antti Tuisku, Katri Ylander and Hanna Pakarinen.
Canadian-born Douglas Pashley is the president and creative director of Van Gogh Records. Douglas, who has lived in Finland for a decade, has had a long career working with various record labels in the US, UK and Japan. He has produced a vast number of hit records and has been trained by the legendary late British producer Gus Dudgeon. Douglas is also a renowned song-writer and has won the BMI Music Publishing Award in 1998 for writing the global hit “Where Do We Go From Here” performed by Vanessa Williams. In Finland he has written libretto and composed music for musicals, scored films, produced platinum records for Tomi Metsaketo and number one radio hits for Gordon Haskel and Crumbland.
Van Gogh Records widely co-operates with independent producers, song-writers and arrangers. SonyBMG is responsible for distributing Van Gogh’s albums in Finland.
